WHY AMERICANS OF LATIN DESCENT?
We invite all to browse our website which is dedicated to educating the general public about the truth of Latinos
in this country, our important place in the development of our nation and the struggles we face everyday. Everyone
is welcome here, unlike some websites that try to keep certain ethnic, racial and social groups out of the equation such as
those that would have the public believe that we are not part of this country’s history. Let’s
not focus at this point on the unfairly targeted Latinos who are trying to make a living here under abusive
and hostile conditions and who are seen as criminals by some, even after paying taxes and helping to keep the economy afloat.
Let’s instead concentrate on the Latinos
who have been born here or who have become citizens of this great nation but who are still not accepted by those in power.
Let’s focus on the Latinos who are excluded as often as possible from every opportunity that
could benefit them and who are not seen as what they are by birthright or by sacrifice… AMERICANS!
That is why we are proposing that from now
on we call ourselves AMERICANS OF LATIN DESCENT. We are Latinos but
we are also Americans and that is a combination that many people do not want to acknowledge or are afraid to accept. When
we want to join as members of this great nation, they don’t want us. That is unfortunate
for them because whether they want it or not, we too are Americans and that will never change!
