STORIES OF DISCRIMINATION AGAINST LATINOS CAN BE SENT TO NATIONAL LATINO USING THE FORM AT THE BOTTOM OF THE PAGE.

I would like to share with you some of my experiences as an American of Latin Descent.  Despite being an American this is how I was treated at these well known establishments.

I applied for a line of credit at Northern Trust Bank in Chicago and used my property as security.  They told me that they do not do lines of credit on buildings.  I was not even looking to use all of my buildings or our assets but they were very adamant that they don't do lines of credit. Can you believe that?  If you know anything about banking and finances you know that is unlikely.

Another time I wanted to have dinner at Nick's Fish Market in Chicago, IL, a local restaurant.  I was with my friend (a police commander) and went in but was told there wasn't room. We walked out and used our cell phone to call for reservations and when we used the last name Roth (notice, NOT a Latino name)  they said there was plenty of room.  Minutes later we walk in and the surprised maitre d'  asked us how he could help us.  With a smirk we said we had reservations for Roth and he had no choice than to let us in.  The same thing happened at the Smith and Wollensky's in Downtown Chicago.

Finally, I called Trump Casino Boat in Hammond, IN to inquire about dinner plans and availability and gave my very Hispanic last name.  Well, that was a mistake because they told me that it would cost me $100 per plate for dinner and that suits and ties are required.  I thought that was outrageous and decided to try again, this time giving an English sounding name.  This time they did not warn me about the price for dinner and made no mention of having to wear suit and tie.

With such ignorance I'm surprised they didn't tell me there would be valet parking for my burro and baby sitting for my 15 kids available.

Now's your chance to share your stories with us and the rest of our public.  Make sure you use the form below.

Thanks for this contribution.  By the way, this information has been verified by our staff.  This is the kind of thinking that has caused so much abuse to be heaped upon our people.  I hope a racial sensitivity class is on the calendar because I'd say she needs it.

Here’s a report sent in by a Latino Chicago businessman. He has been ordered by the bank to submit tax papers and financial documents. Can a Latino businessperson have a number of businesses in this town without looking suspicious? Surely a Latino can make money in endeavors that have nothing to do with drugs or can they? Does Park National Bank believe that an honest Latino businessman is a myth?

Here's a story sent to us through our website that relates a familiar story for many Latinos. Keep the stories coming because by sharing them you'll let others know that they are not the only ones discriminated against.  This is an epidemic and it must be stopped.

I was at Hawkeyes Bar (Taylor ST.) on the 7th of April.
First of all I am of hispanic descent.  I was there with two other hispanic males and a Black male.  We went there to watch the Kansas V. Memphis game.  As we prepared to order our drinks, the waitress asked us if we would like to start a tab with a credit card, We declined and instead told her that we were going to pay cash.  The waitress then informed us that she needed an ID for the cash
transaction.  I then told her again that we were going to pay cash and I was not going to give her my ID.  She was not carding us for for our age.  But for only one reason she saw three hispanics and a black. The waitress was a white female who reluctantly served us our drinks after we refused to give her a credit card or ID. By the way,We did pay for our tab afer every drink was brought to us.

Here is more of the communication between the bank and the businessman's attorney.

This is an example of how a bank will hide behind Federal Regulatory Statutes to justify their discriminatory practices.
This businessperson has contacted us to help him with his cause. If there are any civil rights/discrimination lawyers that would like to represent this client in a contingency case, please let us know at info@nationallatino.com and we will connect you to this gentleman.
